Author of Urban Buffalo Soldiers: The Story of St. Petersburg’s Courageous Twelve, Leon Jackson will discuss his book and experiences as a member of the Courageous Twelve. This group of St. Petersburg Police Department officers filed a lawsuit in 1965 to get equal treatment in the department and paved the way for officers in other departments around the area to follow suit.

In conjunction with June/July gallery display; Beaches, Benches and Boycotts: The Civil Rights Movement in Tampa Bay. The Courageous Twelve are part of the exhibit.
